Serving tray redo once again.

Everyone Stopping by from DIY Day at ASPTL Hey! Welcome! This is a re-post. But I hope you enjoy it. All it took was one tray, some burlap and a starfish! Too easy! Very easy to make a plain old 4.00 serving tray into something FAB!

ASPTL

Make sure to go check out Kimba and all the other girls over at Do it yourself day!
DIY Day @ ASPTL

Remember this tray? Sure, she's cute... but she needed that extra pizazz! Of course once I painted the "C" I figured it out. So, I tore out the burlap and started over.

The tray was already painted heirloom white. So all I needed to do was cut the burlap to fit again, heated up my hot glue gun and stuck 'er on. Too simple. You could do this with a frame too! I'm thinking a set of frames for my bathroom actually. You'll have to check back for that- if it ever gets done that is :)

*I'm also linking up to Melissa at 320 * Sycamore to join in the party uber late!*

And, linking up to frugal friday at The Shabby Nest!

Oh and I'd like to thank Noelle for the use of her camera since mine is unavailable. RIP. :)

Opa!

Wow! July has been one BUSY month! I'm kind of excited it's settling down. Weekend after weekend we've had an event that took up each day!

Yesterday though, was a major fun one. My darling friend Jen had her wedding ceremony and I was lucky enough to be included in it! I'd never been to a Greek wedding, let me tell you.. it's LONG!

But, we all know what happens after the ceremony..RECEPTION! Fun times, fun times! I even did the dance! You would be proud. Enough about that- enjoy some pictures. It's time for me to clean up and get ready for the week. :)Everyone kept throwing money on them during their first dance. Pretty sure it paid for the wedding ;)

Well, I guess not with all those sticky fingers..there goes half! :)
Be back tomorrow with my 4.00 serving tray re-do..re-do! I know,I know.. I have issues! It's so much better now!

Canvas Masterpiece

I've been trying to think of fun things to do this summer on my days off with the girls, since it's just the 3 of us, all.day.long and things can get old fast!

One thing we did was get some 16x11 (I think? Whatever, it was a good size and on sale for a pack of 2 for 6.99 @ Hob Lob) and some .99 cent paint (that matched my decor) and went to town.

LB1 said hers is DEFINITELY not a boat.

So, there you go.. Not a boat. Gotcha.

:)

I did one too, obviously for fun. I'm no Picasso, basically I painted the first word that came to mind. There's no hidden meaning, or is there?

I plan to put the girls' paintings in my room when I finally get off my butt and make it look like an adult bedroom and not a college dorm. Can't wait! Some free abstract art, that perfectly matches the paint color in my room!

Busy doing..

While Mr. P is away, the girls will go out and play!

Lovely week of this..

and this..

some of this..

and more of this..

Much needed break at the beach. So fun, LB2 tried to crash a couple times on the sand. She was POOPED! She's so cute, one of these days I'm just gonna eat her up. Serious.

However, today all of us at the lovebug household had a garage sale. (Too much work, but 124.70 later...eh) And, let me tell you.. I understand and it's Michigan and all. But, it was wayyy to cold out for July. I think I might have saw a snowflake.

Jus' sayin'.

4.00 Serving tray re-do

As I was browsing the end caps at Target a few months ago I noticed this black tray. Cute enough, and for 4 bucks..why not?
I took it home, and pondered. It was nice, but not right for my house. So, it sat. Under my lamp.. which sits on my bench.Ya know so the lamp didn't tip off the cushion..with two kids, it's bound to happen..I really should get some tables one of these days...and less hyper kids...

Oh yeah, the tray. Right. Pay attention Rachelle!

This was the.. 30 seconds after I started spray painting it before. Notice I'm reusing my picnic cloths from the party this weekend? Yay!

This is after.

Total cost 7.00, Actually I lied, it was 6.99. 4 for the tray and 2.99 for the burlap. The paint was free from my stash. It's nice and rustic now, I have to touch up the paint. Friggin' glass was glued to the tray so I couldn't remove it to spray paint and it was NOT fun trying to tape around the glass. Ugh. So, for now- it'll do, until I get me some Heirloom white paint.
This project actually made me think of a 1000 more things I want to do to this tray. We'll see how long it stays like this.

Price my Space!

I'm joining the party guys!

I've been talking about my living room for quite some time now, and patiently waiting for the day I could give a reveal. I'm still waiting for the perfect tables since I sold mine on Craigslist- But, I couldn't wait any longer.. Plus, it's clean today ;) Perfect.
Coming in from the kitchen, welcome.

First things first

1.) Paint color. Cliveden Grey Morning. I.Love.It. My dad originally used it in his bathroom and it seemed like the most beautiful green color I've seen in my life. My husband argued with me that it was grey. Agree to disagree my friend. It's a perfect mix of both. You'll notice that in the pictures it always looks different. But, I know one thing, in person- it's perfect.
If we move I'm using this all over my house.
I got it at Lowes, on sale I believe, probably around 20.00 for the whole room.

2.) The lovely curtains, you guessed it- painters drop cloths. I absolutely adore them. They come in 6x9 So I bought two for the room, cut them in half and used one per window. 9.99 for each window. Plus the sheers which were a cool 5.00/piece at Walmart. The go perfectly on my clearance rods from HOB LOB 10.00/rod.
3.) The carpet. When we first moved in there was ugly non reparable hardwood floors in the house. And, hate me now, but I love me some carpet in the living room. My kids can roll around in it and I don't see the dust bunnies everywhere. Yes, they're probably living in my carpet but I can't see them. Totally worth it.
We spent 1500.00 on the whole house, so about 250.00 for this room.
4.) The couch. Another sale item we chose out of the blue. It's that funky micro suede crap material that I can't come to love. We picked it with our first couch and I hated it, why didn't I learn? Any spills turn into a hard dark spot. Sucks with two kids. Oh well, live and learn (twice)
The couch and the matching chair (ew) were 800.00
5.) Itty bitty painting in the corner there, it's a rose that I made in high school. I can't seem to get rid of it, or find a good place for it. For now, it sits in the lonely corner.
Free art, can't beat that.

6.) The lamps I had to sneak in the house while my husband was away at work. Still love them. I got them at Walmart for something ridiculously cheap like 29.95 for the base and maybe 15.00 for the shade? I don't know, maybe it's not so cheap but I loved them and here they live in harmony.
7.) Coffee table being used as our side table. Free, my Grandpa built it when he was in his shop class, it lived with him, my dad and now rests here. With a lovely coat of chalk board paint (It used to be in the play room) It looks gorg.
8.) Pillows, TJ Maxx and Target. Around 20.00 a pop, don't tell Mr. P I spent that much on Pillows mkay? But, they pulled the room together. Love them.
5x 20.00= 100.00 That sounds bad. Lets not say that out loud.

9.) See my cute toile bench there, yeah it's a table right now too. But, hey it was free. You can read about the metamorphosis it went through here.

10.) Pretty standard small t.v stand. Nothing fancy, a cheap fix when our other cheap t.v stand fell off our moving truck, yeah seriously. 300.00 for the set.

11.) Accessories. Lanterns 10.00 for the small, 15.00 for the big one. Flag- 5.00 HOB LOB clearance from last year. Small lamp 9.00. Lovely little touch of ambiance. Shelf 20ish, candle holders 6.00/together on an endcap at Tar-jay.

So, total that up here.....

1671.00

Totally not bad at all! Lets run down all that entailed

New carpet, couch & chair, curtains/rods, TV stand/tower, lamps, pillows, paint and accessories. Not bad!

Thanks for stopping by!

I'm fired!

Let me start by saying. I'm fired. I did NOT take a picture of my tablescape at LB1's bday party! But you can imagine with me- RED WHITE BLUE. Gorgeous, with a tower of brownies. Sigh, I'm really sad. Think I should at least take a picture of my dirty dishes so you see all the picnicness of it? Maybe.

But it was an amazing day none the less! For all of you that crossed your fingers THANK YOU. It worked! Blue skies all day!

Here's some of the favorites- Time for me, however to crash! I'll be back tomorrow to show you what we had to do to the house to get it in shape for the party. Because I can't just clean the house. We had to build a deck. Uh huh. Poor Husband. :)

(Scooby doo, per request of LB1)

(How many times to get EVERYONE to look at the camera?)

Love this one.

Love my girls.

Love my guy.

Life is good.
