ONE last Halloween project for 2009

Okay, talk about last minute here! I finally finished decided it was close enough to finished to use for tonight. I made LB1's last year, but just had to make one for LB2 and I was thisclose to scrapping the whole thing and using canvas bags all adorned like I've seen floating around blog land, but I held back and said "Rachelle, just do it already."

Black cauldron, 77cent craft paint and ribbon. Done, done and done. You might remember last year I used a boa around the top instead of ribbon. Well considering I was still trying to sneeze out the feathers from last year I opted out of that and tore it off. :)

For those of you who say "I can not hand paint worth a cent, not possible." Guess what? Me either, here I'll even give you a close up of my imperfections.

Imperfections or not, I think Bat Girl and Spider Girl will be happy with them! They'll look even better with all the candy they get.for me If only it would warm up a little for us to go out tonight!? We might have to wear our snow suits!

*Finally found, after a year where I was inspired to do this project! Susie over at Susieharrisblog.com did this last October! I put it in my idea file and never saw the link again. Search search search and I can now credit her! Woohoo! Her painting is much better than mine. She puts me to shame! :) It's okay though, she's a doll, I'll let it slide.*

Happy Halloween!

Time to let the cat out of the bag!

Okay, so all week I've been on the edge of my seat waiting for Friday to come. If you read my facebook, you know why. If not- get ready.

Last week Wednesday I was emailed by a fabulous woman named Rachel. The email was titled "Your Kitchen" Anyway, she's the associate editor of Kitchen+Bath Makeovers a BH&G special interest magazine. She said she found me while browsing some of her favorite blogs (The DIY Show off to be exact; Go Roeshell! ) and saw my kitchen and wanted to feature me! Can I get a "Holla!" Sorry that's my inner 22 year old coming out.

:)

They do a little story about budget kitchens called Do It For Less, and apparently mine fits right in! Remember we did her for under 2200? So today was my phone interview which I'm sure I fumbled through the whole way. I told you, I'm no pro! But, Rachel said she didn't mind. We're on a first name basis, we're almost like bffs. Serious. In a few months it'll be out and I'm going to frame my page. Yes, I get a whole page. I'm on cloud nine.

So here's the deal. Summer 2010 issue-- be ready, see you there!

Something good is in the air.

Okay so I've been gone oh, about a year now. But I have some exciting news and because of it I've been preparing my house like a mad woman. After tomorrow, I'll be able to sit back and BREATHE. Promise.

Until then, something cute. (And, scary considering it's only October and we're in full winter wear around these parts!)

Whimsical Pumpkin

I'm really getting bad at these titles. Sorry about that. :) But anyways I received a lot of comments and emails about the silver pumpkin. This one here, from this post.

Well this may be the worst and/or easiest tutorial ever. Take a pumpkin; preferably one from Michael's at 60% right now! This one here is a bigger one, he was 7.00ish the smaller one was 4.00 and tax.

Grab some silver spray paint- any will do. Take a sharpie and write whatever you wish, I preferred House of Czuk--Scribbly and not perfect-I'm cool with that; it looks kind of like something out of the Wizard of Oz doesn't it? No? Really? Huh.

Then add some witches brooms and polka dots. Easy peasy. Once everything is dried put about 17 coats of high gloss clear, this gives it the sheen. I love it- it's the one thing that everyone comments on when they come over.

Even with all drips, I love it. Remember Nester's Mantra "It doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful!"

Sorry about the lack of photos; I'm no pro at the tutorial game! Come back tomorrow for a front porch reveal, that is if the rain lets up! Night!

Wanna be a BFF?

While browsing the Internet taking care of a flu stricken little one I came across this lovely.

Sadly there isn't one in MI here but there is one right down the street from my family in Ohio! Woo hoo! I know where we're going for family dinner when we visit! :) Any restaurant that can keep my child's attention for more than 5 minutes sounds good to me. Can I get an Amen?

Anywho while browsing facebook-- I found that if you become a BFF of Friendly's you not only get a free 3 scoop sundae for enrolling and birthday treats! How fun? They're also giving away random gift cards on Twitter for following, and right now they're having a contest for a factory tour, where you can win a chance to go see the factory and your child can get a years supply of ice cream or star in their commercial!! So someone go follow and check it out so I can hear how good it is! A restaurant with a meal, drink and sundae for 9.99? Count me in!

Note: No I'm not being paid for these :) I can't go a day without posting ya'll and can't pass up free stuff. And, in this economy I don't think anyone can!

Pumpiaries.

Have you seen all these pumpkin topiaries floating around blog land this fall? Hello GORGEOUS. I couldn't skip the band wagon, so I jumped right on. I don't have any fabulous urns floating around-- nor the money to get a new one to lie around. But I did have 10.00 and Hobby lobby has terracotta pots for 4.99 a piece. Awesome. I did this project for around 30 bucks I believe. Which is pretty cheap right? I bet you could buy these babies for way more than that online. The garland was 50% off at H.L & I only needed one strand for both, so I paid 5.99 for that, 4 pumpkins (I already had the middle two white ones) which were around 4.00 and 7.00. I already had the black spray paint. I bought some of that green stuff for floral arrangements to make sure the pumpkins were high enough in the pot. Let me just say the "green stuff" Is the devil. I hate it, I'll pay someone to get the rest out of my house. Dusty ol' crap. Pardon my french.

Anyways I didn't take any before pictures buuuuuttttt drum roll please. Pidderpatter pidder patter.

They might get a little more pizzazzing in the upcoming days but for now, I'm going to take my hot glue gun burned fingers to Taco Bell for a reward. Don't tell my diet buddy, or my diet itself. Thanks. :)

Look what came in the mail today!

A while back I won this giveaway over at Jannypie.com. And, what'dya know? Today it came in the mail! Look at all my amazin' loot!

Love love love everything!

Want to know what's even better? She sent me some extra goodies! How did she know I was looking at clutches at Tarjay yesterday? Seriously, how did she know? I said to myself, "Rachelle-- don't by that it's not necessary, just wait it out--Christmas is coming." I think she's spying on me. Dreams do come true! I love it all, but being that I simply adore Halloween and all of it's creepiness, this guy is my favorite. Ironic isn't it?

Thank you Jannypie! I love it all! I'm spoiled rotten!

Lovely weekend so far!

So I don't know if you remember but I had bought Mr. P some tickets to his favorite comedian Dane Cook, for his birthday. Well the show was last night! We had an amazing time-- I got to get dressed up, which in my mind is the best thing ever! Getting out of Mommy clothes! Good food, good seats, kid free (for the whole night! Woohoo!) The best part? I got to MEET him! Have I mentioned how much I love this guy? He's very vulgar, but very cute cute! So anyways-- here's some pictures of the night. I'm off to make some pumpkin topiary, pump'o'ries if you will.
This is just for giggles but how excited was I when I tried to get on my phone and saw that I was using *Dane_Cooks_ Dressing room* WiFi!? I knew when he was coming out because I lost the signal :)

Rachelle 1, Table 0.

It was a tough fight, but I did come out victorious. Really I guess we both won, since the table doesn't have to be little boy blue anymore. Not that I have anything against that, but ya know.. House of girls here. ;)

Remember this beaut?

Right now it's on sale for 49.99 but it's regularly 59.99 and I got it at goodies for 29.99. Lovely. I knew right away it was getting a coat of paint. I went with the natural choice Heirloom white, I seriously don't think you can go wrong with that color! It's the best by far. Then I took a pretty little knob that was left over from our kitchen remodel and hello gorgeous! Well anyways enough deets, here's the goods.

Oooh!

Ahhh!

Wait.

No, that's not it either.

I love it! I realize that it's a bedside table but c'mon, when you're using a foot stool as a table-- anything is an upgrade! I think it looks much better now, perfect for our living room.

I should have gotten the other table that they had. Oh well-- live and learn! Did you see the other project that was from last year? I totally forgot about that little pretty!

So when do you think Mr. P will notice somethings different? He went all last weekend with the table in the basement in front of the laundry pile.. I mean, what laundry? Anyways he walked past it a million times and didn't notice. Men.

See you tomorrow with the other project!

Now go check out the other laides at The Shabby Nest for Frugal Friday!
