Front door frenzy

Okay, I'll admit it. I had no idea what to title this post so front door frenzy won. However, this post isn't even about the front door. It's the other door in the house, the back door. But I'll be honest and say I was a little scared titling my post Back Door Frenzy.. someone might be quite confused if they're googling said item and not looking for a wreath for their door. ;)

I'll admit another thing, this isn't a post about a wreath either. It's a monogram covered in jute and hung by some scrap fabric. If I was good at my blogger duties I would have taken pictures of everything being put together but I didn't. So enjoy some photos where I tried to stay out of the picture and ended up ruining all of them. Be prepared to cock your head to the side-- hey I never said I was a photographer. :)

This is when I gave up and just went for it. Enjoy my pajamas that I proudly wear at 6:00 in the afternoon. evening.

Cabinet door turned welcome sign! Excuse my drool.

Awesome hand print trees. I'll have to do this with the girls, they'd love it!

Jute napkin rings. I love me some jute, and these look easy and fabulous! Love the different embellishments she used.

In honor of me getting a new washer and dryer this week {squeel} enjoy these laundry room re-do's too!

Okay there was one more I saw and I swore to myself it was at FYF, but anyways, it was a laundry room with a old ladder on the wall, she said she used to use it in her kids room. It was a GORGEOUS laundry room, and now I've lost it. If you're out there fancy LR, come back to me. Please. :)

Love it! Anyway, you know the drill. Let's do this!

Bedroom pt. 1..2?

Okay, so you know we painted the bedroom, which was previously a darkish blue.

I enjoyed it for about 10 minutes but the blue was just too dark for the teeny tiny shoebox of a bedroom. So the Natural Choice, (har har har) was from Sherwin Williams. My first teaser wasn't a very good picture.

Here, let's gaze at this trifle dish that I filled with buttons. See that background? That's our bedroom color now!

Want another teaser? My latest project I worked on today! I'm so excited to show you the finished product I can barely STAND it.

Guest post from Crystal's Craft Spot!

I'm posting over at Crystal's today! After you read how awesome she is, come on over and see what I'm making today. :)

Hi Everyone! I am so excited to be swapping with Rachelle today. Don't you love her blog? I find so much inspiration every time I look. I just love her style.

I am Crystal from Crystal's Craft Spot. Its my little spot to share my current craft projects, tutorials, recipes, and ideas I want to use in the future. I started my blog because I didn't want to overload our family blog with my new creations. I try to post something new almost everyday and I enjoy a variety of crafts. It is my way to relax and take a break from a busy day. . Here's a little more about me: I've been married for 5 1/2 years to the greatest guy ever.

I am a stay at home mom of two adorable little girls (4 and almost 2). They keep me very busy. When they are awake we spend our time playing, learning, making messes, and occasionally cleaning.

I teach my daughter preschool at home and we post our fun activities and crafts on our preschool blog.

I love to read, watch Lost, and movies

I love Blogs! I love looking at others for crafty inspiration, I love staying in touch with old friends and making new friends (I show up as the Harris family if I comment or follow your blog-sorry for any confusion)

Here are some of my favorite projects you will find on my blog: Family Motto , Easy Wall Art, fabric high chair, and My bedroom furniture

Now for the fun part. I am so excited to share this project with you. Its so simple and can be done to fit any style.

I loved this clock and immediately went in search of my own treasure.

I found this one at the thrift store for $2
I removed the clock from the frame and used tape around the edges to protect the glass while I painted.I used about three coats of black paint and peeled off the tape.I traced around the clock face on the back of scrapbook paper and cut it out.I then drew a circle for the hands and cut it out.

I carefully slid the hands through the hole and attached the paper with a glue stick. I cut out numbers and attached them as well.Replace your clock face into the frame and you now have a very cute updated clock.Come by Crystal's Craft Spot anytime for more crafts and tutorial. This week I have a special guest blogger party going one-tons of projects, blogs (including Fingerprints on the Fridge), and giveaways! I hope you stop by. Thanks again for letting me stop by. Its been a lot of fun!

Mom Day

Okay, okay let's talk about the big white elephant in the room. It's true, I haven't been posting as much as I'd should like to lately. But I seem to have a lot on my plate over at casa Love Bug!

As you know I'm working on a bedroom redo *Sigh* slowly but surely.

Picking up extra hours at work to help fund going to this place.

Making more of these, to also help fund Disney or die 2010.. Wait, that was harsh.. It sounded cute in my head. Let's call it.. ohh, Mickey palooza? A week in paradise? Get away from snow and slush? :)

Oh and I've been loving on this, an extra amount lately. I think I have baby fever, and this is the closest thing to a baby I have.

How can you say no to someone who can totally pull off a pink summer dress and one orange sock. With a hint of salsa on the face and bangs in the eyes. Such a sight. But oh how I love those baby toes! :)

There's still time to link up for Feature Yourself Friday! Ton's o' good stuff there! Check it out!

Feature Yourself Friday!

Wow! Talk about a great turn out last week! Before you link up, enjoy some deliciousness!

At Meet Virginia, Morgan made this very chic ottoman.

A bill holder gets a makeover at Ready, Set Create! Love it! How cute is that?!

I can't leave out my newest friend, Kimmie! She made a tutu for her daughters BED. Yep, move over pottery barn!

The thrifty ba made some easter bread. YUM!

Plus, I adore her for the photo of Snookie in a post about bread. You know Snookie, you rot your brain watching her show but can't stop looking.. Wait did I say that!? ;)

Fawn added some board and batten and I can't resist that!

Okay, okay one more thing. Have ya'll (yes I'm southern today) read Amanda's post on blog party etiqute? It's fabulous. I love having a place for everyone to link up what makes them great, but it's also nice to come back and see everyone else. Now I know you might not be able to see everyone But I hope you can come back and check out a few. Remember being a newbie? That one comment brightened your day! Let's make someone smile today! And please take the time to link back! :) I love giving you some "free" advertising and I love to read it and see that you took 5 seconds to throw a shout out so everyone knows where the party's at!

Speaking of Amanda she's having a giveaway! Go win something totally cute! Then win one for me too okay? :)

Off my soap box, so remember: Link up, comment, link back! That's all-- ya'll (hehe) are great!

Lets PARTY!

Painting

I took a leap, it's called Natural Choice by Sherwin Williams (mixed at the Orange store, however)

Light and airy, I'm kind of pumped. Can't wait to have you see the other treasures!

Something cute for the kids!

So in an effort to tame some of the never ending papers that LB1 gets from school and the little doodles that LB2 makes all day long, I put together another binder. I made one for LB1's preschool stuff ages ago but it got spilled on (of course) and I waited 10 years to get another. This one is cuter anyways-- fate maybe.

Okay so I purchased two of the cheap 1.50 white 1 inch binders at WM and...

poof!

They ended up cute!

No?

Doesn't work like that?

Okay we'll tell you the real story, I recently ordered some vinyl from my vinyl girl, Dawn. And, I told her how much I loved loved loved these flower name labels and I'd love some for the girls' bedroom doors. But, alas right now they don't have doors. (Don't ask.) I said I'd wait for them till later- but guess what came in the mail! So for the time being I used them for this project!

I LOVE it, the girls love it. They're so fun looking! Dawn is fabulous- want to see some more cute things that I ordered?

I've been stuck on this blog lately and she had an awesome idea for a chore/coin/token/point system in her house and I adore the idea! I think my kids are going to LOVE it and actually help out a bit. Wait, what? Did I say they don't help out? I mean.. they're angels.

Right.

Anyways.

So the idea is that they each have their own box and they get a coin (or two) for a certain thing they do.

Ie. Putting their shoes away, cleaning up after themselves, remembering to brush their teeth without me nagging (getting better at this!)

After enough coins they can get a treat or save up for something even better like a movie with Mom and Dad or something small from the store! Actually twice tonight LB1 has mentioned to her sister that they've gotta get along to get some coins! :) I think for now we're going to use beads or buttons-- my store didn't have poker chips. Oh well, same idea! Same results I hope! :)

So wish me luck! I hope both these ideas help out in my house. Crossing my fingers! Thanks Dawn for the fabulous pink vinyl. You really are the best!
