Entry way switcheroo

Remember the entryway that received a complete overhaul?

Well it got a little sprucing up for the arrival of summer, or apparently around these parts-- Tornado and storm season. Grr. Anyway I needed some brightness in my life. It started with this rug, which matched perfectly to this banner I made.

Then I couldn't be stopped.

I swapped my home-made tacks (which I still love) for these huge tacks-- (Because we like things supersized around here) from Wal*mart for 3.00ish dollars. If anything under 20.00 is justifiable, then 3.00 is practically free. At least, that's what I tell my husband. ;)

If I have a new rug, I need a new accent pillow, right? Sure. So I scooped up the matching towel to my rug and voila! Some super cute and water resistant pillows!

What I  love the most about them is the girls can snatch them up on their way outside when they go play and need something soft to lay on. I wont worry about it getting wet and the color bleeding. Yup, genius I'd say.

My baskets got a tiny overhaul too. How? Easy, I just erased the tags and gave them the proper fillin' for summer.

We don't need hats and gloves so I opted for
1.)SPF
Quick and easy for when we're on the go. Love the last minute trips to our favorite great lake.
2.) Sun
Does anyone else ALWAYS lose their sunglasses? Is it just me?
3.) Beach
More or less because it looked cute, but just like the SPF it's nice to know where there's a towel--quick.

Love the little changes that help me soak up my summer.

Bedroom Deets

Hi ya'll (Yep, I just went there--again!) Thanks so much for your lovely comments about my bedroom make over! So glad you liked it! We here at Casa Fingerprints LOVE it. The man says its like sleeping in a nice hotel room from our honeymoon in Mexico. I'd say I did pretty good then if he's okay with kissing pleat bedding something very girly in my mind! :) Everything was done on a super tight budget-- think slim pickins. So I've got the rundown for you!

{Bedroom redo '10}
Bedding: Target 89.00
This was the most expensive thing that was purchased :) a splurge for comfort.
Lamp: Goodwill, it's from Target though. 15.00
Shade: Walmart 14.00
Is it sad I paid almost the same for the shade as I did the whole lamp?
Blinds: Home Depot 16.00 pc.
They had a ton of different sizes too, so if you think that you can't have fabulous blinds for your windows because they're a funky measurement they might just have them! They're rolled up, and called Miranda I think.
Curtains: Walmart! Yup, just plain ol' fabric from Walmart. Under 3.00 a yard.
Empty Frames & Candle sticks: Hobby Lobby 80% off
I didn't pay anything more than 6.00 a pc for those frames. FABULOUS time to get frames. Look how thick and chunky that black one is, I have big plans for it once I fill that space with something else!
Potted plants: Ikea 3ish dollars
White pot: Ikea Cheap? Under 5.00
Tin antrho #4 Pot: TJ max 3.99! Score!

Well that's it folks! For under 300.00 I changed the entire feel of this room! I couldn't be happier! A lot of people think that the bedroom is the last room to redo which is how I felt too, but now I wish I did it when we first moved in! It's so nice to calm down in there, listen to whats going on outside, feel the fan. Ah, loves it. I even started making my bed when I get up in the morning, for some reason when the bed is made, I subconsciously pick up the floor and tidy up the top of the dresser. It's like it WANTS me to clean it. :) Just to enjoy it more.

There's my spiel.

Feature Yourself Friday!

First things first, I'd like to ask you to think about my lil' ol Mom today. She's going in for surgery on her face. What woman wants to think about the things that could happen in that situation? None. She's pretty nervous about it-- so any prayers would be greatly appreciated! Or good vibes, crossed fingers, nice thoughts if that's more your lingo. :)
Thanks so much ladies.

Happy Summer everyone! Hope you're out swimming, catching fireflies, smelling the fresh cut grass and... {Crafting, reno-ing, fluffing} havin' a lazy summer! If you're sick of the lazy summer and want some inspiration you've come to the right place! :) Last week we had some pretties.. I picked out my summer themed favorites!

Love this knock off lamp and the summer color. I've been in a turquoise fit lately, this fits the bill.

Have I mentioned that I (almost) have a 4th of July baby? She came two days before but since it's so close to the holiday she's convinced any time the stores put out red white and blue that they're getting ready for her birthday. :) So sweet-- so I loved this recipe and will be making it for her birthday snack.

Allie made a summer shirt. Yep, made. 'Nuff said, she can sew clothes- she rocks in my book.

Great stuff girls! Keep it comin'... Alright, now you know the rules! Link, link link up!

Wait! Have you signed up for the Dainty Daisy giveaway yet? Don't forget you have until Sunday! :) Now, link up like some mad women! :)

Bedroom Makeover Reveal

Remember when I asked you 100 years ago what room should be next in my ultimate take over? You picked bedroom, I picked procrastinate. Awesome.

Well,  I'm back and ready to show you the brand new, amazingly comfortable bedroom that I'm proud to call my own. And, yes it's still the size of a shoe box. :) I'm okay with that, we'll now refer to it as cozy.

It started with this dresser makeover. Beat up, white washed, sanded, glazed. Love. Now when I bump it with the door, because of the size of the.. cozy.. room, it's okay-- it looks like it's supposed to be there.

The walls got a lovely coat of Natural Choice by Sherwin Williams (Color matched and mixed at Home Depot) It really, REALLY opened up the space. A million times better than the blue. Billion.

Next up, windows! Since the room is 10 feet away from my sidewalk I added two sets of blinds to keep from freaks looking in my window.

See.. Caught them.

Better put the shades down.

*Sigh*

Much better.

:)

New kissing pleat bedding and cream ticking.

Side tables filled with junk. I'm missing a lamp so I substituted some candles and empty frames to fill the space. Speaking of side tables I'd love some chippy old worn trunks but I've found zip, zero, nada here in my town. Boo.

There's a couple more things that I plan on adding to the room-- in due time.

The trunk for the end of the bed, we have zero storage in this house and this will be PERFECT.

Frames for the art that I already purchased.
Another matching lamp.
A headboard.
Throw pillows, red will most definitely not be my accent color, however I couldn't NOT put something there! :)

Ready for the before and after?
Me too.

(Before.)

(After.)

Ta-da! :)
Loves it!

Next up, where I got everything! See you then!

My bedroom is done!

What did you think it was :-)

Ready..?
Are you sure?
Okay.. Just one look!

The deets and more pictures to come tomorrow! See you there!

Giveaway with Dainty Daisy

Have you checked out our latest sponsor over there?

Photobucket

It's Betsy, the owner of a SUPER cute shop called the Dainty Daisy! What's she make? Oh just squeal worthy hats, shoes, blankets and other crocheted items! Don't believe me? See for yourself!

Yes, I know it's a little hard to look past the chubby cheeked sleeping baby. But check out the big ol' flowered hat she's wearing! L-O-V-E!

I've seen these baby cocoons all over blog land. They're seriously the cutest photo prop I've seen in a long time! What a cute and original gift for a Mommy to be, she'd be set for those newborn pictures!

Not into super huge flowers? (Weirdo! Why not? :-P) You could get a smaller sized flower beanie. This baby isn't included-- but oh, I'd take her home with me if she was! Love the button detail and the light blue color-- because not all BLUE means boy!

These are the hats similar to the ones Betsy sent my girls. Except we have purple and green. Did you know she can customize any color to fit your needs? Yup, I told her what I wanted and she had no problem whipping up some cute coordinating hats for my girls! :)

Okay Moms with boys, are you giving me the stink eye for all the girl themed giveaways? I thought so-- guess what? Betsy has a ton for you and your little boys too!

Let me just say, this hunting hat would fit in perfectly in Michigan. Come November it's a fashion no-no if you don't see a man or boy wearing it. ;)

Little boy booties? Yes please!

Zero flowers and still adorable enough to eat. *Almost* makes me want a boy.

almost

Seen enough proof? Really cute stuff, awesome prices and fast shipping. I'm pretty sure it doesn't get any better than that! Instead of going to one of the big robot stores to get that baby shower gift think of how sweet it would be to give someone something handmade, with love.

Alright, on with the giveaway huh? :-D Okay, okay! Today Betsy is offering up one free item from her shop! Yep, anything you choose! If you're planning on winning something to send to me-- to ignite my baby fever I'll take this.

K thanks.
Otherwise, it's all yours!
;)

How do you win you ask?

  1. Bop over to her Etsy shop and let me know which item you'd like.
  2. Follow this little ol' blog and let me know in a second comment
  3. Follow Betsy and show her some love!
  4. Tweet/blog/facebook about it and come back and let me know.
Easy as that! What happens if you don't win? She has something special for you too-- Message Betsy through her Etsy about what you'd like and she'll make you a custom listing with free shipping! Woohoo! I don't know anyone that doesn't enjoy free shipping!

I'll pick a random winner Sunday June 27-- Good luck!

Happy Father's Day.

Dear, Baby-daddy.

;) Yup-- that's you.

I love you. Since we were 14 and just little kids, I've loved you. Want to know what makes me love you a million times more?

The secret jokes you and the girls tell each other that I'm not allowed to hear.

When you watch Michael Jackson's greatest hits with our babe at 7 am because she wont go back to sleep and she wants to cuddle and watch Thriller. :)

I love you for always asking a special other girl for the first dance. I'm not even jealous. ;)

For everything you do-- I love you. I love you more now because you gave me the best thing in my life, my babies! :)

Happy Daddy Day!
